Forest Fire Smoke & Your Health

With active forest fires in North Algoma, Environment Canada has issued a special air quality statement for parts of North Algoma, including Wawa, White River, and Dubreuilville. Smoke plumes from these active fires may result in deteriorated air quality across these areas.

Algoma Public Health (APH) cautions residents that air pollution from wildfire smoke can be harmful to your health and aggravate heart or lung conditions.

Abandoned Ice Huts

The Municipality of Wawa wishes to remind everyone to pick up their ice huts on all municipal properties including at William Teddy Park and the Wawa Lake shoreline areas and all municipal boulevards. The abandoned ice fishing huts and contents found along these areas will be impounded by the Municipality by Monday, May 15, 2023.

The owners of the structures and contents may be claimed from the Municipality of Wawa for a cost of $75.00 which covers the transportation and storage of the ice hut and...
