WORKSHOP – Cultural Resource Mapping in Wawa

Please join Municipal Cultural Planning Inc and Wawa -for a day long workshop to the explore how to’s and to assess the benefits of Cultural Resource Mapping in Wawa.

This exciting workshop will include:

Dr. Greg Baeker, a nationally recognized leader in the field of Cultural Mapping and Planning to discuss What is this Cultural Mapping & Planning Phenomenon.

With Dr. Baeker and Johanna Rowe, Wawa Cultural Mapping Coordinator, the attendees will be led through the process of Identifying Cultural Resources., using the current Wawa Cultural Mapping project as a case study.

Cultural Mapping Applications to Municipal Policy & Planning will explain what to do with the final database of information. Dr. Baeker will review examples of how to apply cultural resource data and mapping toward a variety of strategic objectives.

– ArtsBuild Ontario presentation of their newly created Facilities Portal- the first comprehensive and interactive online advocacy tool that will centrally house up to date information about non-profit arts organizations facilities, and their facilities needs, in Ontario.

SESSION ONE: We are extremely pleased to have Dr. Greg Baeker, a nationally recognized leader in the field of Cultural Mapping and Planning to discuss What is this Cultural Mapping & Planning Phenomenon. He will inspire and engage the attendees with his introduction to the unique potential and unlimited possibilities in developing and maintaining a creative Cultural Map and the importance of a healthy Municipal Cultural Plan.

SESSION TWO: Led by Dr. Baeker and Johanna Rowe, Wawa Cultural Mapping Coordinator, the attendees will be led through the process of Identifying Cultural Resources. By using the current Wawa Cultural Mapping project as a case study, we will identify sources of information and encourage focus on including input from a wide range of community sectors.

SESSION THREE: Cultural Mapping Applications to Municipal Policy & Planning will explain what to do with the final database of information. Dr. Baeker will review examples of how to apply cultural resource data and mapping toward a variety of strategic objectives. These examples will give participants a clear understanding of both the tangible and intangible results achieved by efficiently utilizing the valuable information collected in a cultural mapping project.

SESSION FOUR: This session will look at the ArtsBuild Ontario Portal – an online knowledge sharing tool that can be used by any non-profit arts organization, arts council, municipality or arts venue in Ontario.
